HONORING THOSE WHO DEFEND OUR FREEDOM ON VETERANS DAY

To all those who have served and are still serving in the U.S military

“On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour in 1918, a cessation of hostilities was honored and WWI came to its unofficial end. Veterans Day (then known as Armistice Day) began as a commemoration to acknowledge the heroism of those who died and to show gratitude for the WW1 victory. Over time, it evolved into an opportunity for Americans to show thanks to all of those who have served our nation in one of the armed forces, and to perpetuate peace and understanding amongst nations.”

Each year on November 11th, we celebrate and honor our servicemen and women for their bravery and sacrifice.

The holiday season is always a time for family and gratitude.  Nowadays, besides the great importance of the national holiday, Americans across the nation enjoy the day off and do their best to spend this day in a way that honors military veterans.

Here are some patriotic activities that you and your family can plan for November 11th:

The best way to celebrate the day is to pick up the phone and wish all your friends or relatives who served “Happy Veterans Day!”

There are hundreds of parades organized across the country and you should join any of them to show our gratitude to the U.S military.

In 2016, President Obama designated two minutes of silence, to be observed at 2:11 EST, so as an opportunity to replicate on the veterans who have touched our lives. This year, take the two minutes silence to ensure you remember the motive of Veterans Day.

The easiest thing you could do is to hoist the US flag and fly it high in front of your house or apartment window. It shows that you respect, it shows that you care about all those who bet their life at risk so that you can be safe and free.

This day is completely dedicated to them. So, if you know any relatives or friend served in the army, it’s your time to pay your time and respects to this special day. Invite them to your home and offer some delicious meal. There’s nothing better than quality time spent with them.

Visit a VA hospital in your nearby hospital or nursing home to see if you can come to chat with some of the veterans. Gratefulness goes a long way.

Another important and beneficial way to celebrate Veterans Day is by donating. Whether you offer financial support or donate clothes to an organization that partners with veteran charities, Create care packages for soldiers overseas, or set up a clothing drive at your work. As we are so grateful for your loyalty and the sacrifices you have made for our peace and freedom, and privileged to work alongside you. The legacy you leave in the wake of your service encourages us all.

Expressing our gratitude and pride for our heroes is as simple as getting out the red, white, and blue decorations and getting to decorative works.

In-School and at home there is a tradition for Memorial Day, wearing poppies is a symbolic recognition of all those servicemen & women we have lost in the name of protecting our country. For this activity, simply take two coffee filters and cover them red, using either paint, crayon, marker, or, anything.

Let them dry. Next, fold the two filters together, and fold them in half once more, then draw a heart shape and cut it out. Open the filter into a half just to it looks like a taco shell,  then hole punches two holes near the fold. Now thread a pipe cleaner through one hole, a button (in the center of the folder filters), and back through the second hole, and then twisted together to create the stem. For more
